If you're looking for a place where you won't get disturbed and you'll get the chance to fully unwind, then Patar is the perfect getaway. In a place with almost no cellular reception, you'll have more than enough opportunity to enjoy the beach and have a beer by the shores at night. Patar is a white beach located in Bolinao, Pangasinan. It's also an hour away from another Philippine summer destination, the Hundred Islands.
So I opened the year 2016 with an adventure in the form of another hike with Trail Adventours! We went on a quick and fun hike to Mt. Talamitam, and had our lunch while some had a dip at Tinipak River on the way back down. A good plus was also the meal we had in Tagaytay on our way back to Manila!
One thing I liked most about this hike would be the grassy fields that made up most of the trail. There are a few steep parts, but nothing that can't be overcome. I got sunburt since it was really sunny, and I forgot to put on sunblock - I guess that's one of the things you might want to keep in mind since compared to other mountains covered by trees, this one is more open.
Overall, this mountain is still one that I can vouch for in its being labeled as a "for beginners" hike. It's exciting, scenic and in a way, relaxing. Now who's looking forward to more adventures this 2016?

Mt. Pico de Loro was my very first hike, and to be honest with you, I told myself I would never hike again after that. Nonetheless, as of this writing, I've hiked several times again. Hiking Pico wasn't a walk in the park, maybe factor in the fact that I wasn't able to get much sleep the night before, and that I didn't have much physical activity beforehand (ok, none at all).
As this was my first hike, it was also my first adventure with Trail Adventours. They're currently my go-to for hikes, and I've also recommended them to my friends (recommended meaning I dragged some of my friends to hike with me, and they loved the experience with them, so they're booking with them as well). It was a well organized hike with very patient guides who dod not leave me to die when I felt like I couldn't go on any longer. Also, thanks to their guides, I realized my mistakes for this first hike and didn't repeat them again.
The terrain of Pico isn't grassy, so there's a lot of rocky parts, going up and going down. There's a stream somewhere, and I recall on my way down, I was listening for the water, which meant I was nearing the base. The last few minutes of the hike to get to the peak was very steep, and it was one of the challenges. (I can't say how the monolith climb was since I didn't do it.) But before you climb to the peak, there's some time for you to rest or eat below. Since I was able to make it to the peak with my very sedentary lifestyle, I'm sure any of you can do it!

Corregidor Island is the Phillippines is no beach. It is one of the historical sites near Manila which you can reach via Sun Cruises. It takes around an hour for the ferry ride to Corregidor from Manila, and the guided tour can be done in a day or overnight.
Below is a general itinerary/overview of what to expect for a day in Corregidor:
- 7:00 AM Check-in time & Boarding time
- 8:00 AM ETD Manila
- 9:15 AM ETA Corregidor (Guided tour with Lunch)
- 2:30 PM ETD Corregidor
- 3:45 PM ETA Manila
Here's a tip: Sometimes, you can grab the same tour for a cheaper rate via Metrodeal. There are times where they offer vouchers for Sun Cruises' Corregidor tours, and it's not every day, so when they do, better grab them!

It will be a long time before El Nido in the Philippines is outranked as my personal favorite vacation destination. To get to this paradise, take a flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa. From the airport there, you'll have many options waiting for you to get you to El Nido. Generally, it will take you around 6 hours by land to get there, but it's definitely worth it.
In El Nido, there are standard island hopping tours that departs daily. You can get one easily from your accommodation, or if they don't host it, they'd usually take care of finding you one. The options are different by the locations that the trip will stop in (options are A, B, C, D) and almost all operators that offer the tour share the same price as regulated in the area.
I'm backtracking this trip up on the blog, so I don't recall which tours exactly we got, but check out the locations and photos below and you might get an idea. Here are the highlights of our El Nido trip:
